Bunting - 3 ways

Hello! Long time no write...I'm rubbish at remembering to blog. Lots is going on here at Komodo Towers, and if you join me later this week for my new...PODCAST! I'll tell you all about it! In the mean time, I thought I'd share the bunting patterns from our crochet garden party this weekend. It was a really fabulous day, with so many lovely people! I cannot wait for our next event.

So, here's the pattern!

Triangle Bunting 3-ways

·        These 3 mini patterns will make triangles the same size so that you can have different patterns in the same string of bunting. Mix and match as you wish.

·        To change colours – fasten off the round and then attach the new colour to a corner ch2 sp, except on the hear granny where you will change colour during the slip stitch.

·        For all of these, try to trap your ends as you go to save sewing in later.

I used DK Paintbox Yarn cotton and a 4mm hook, you can use any yarn you wish with the recommended hook size, there is no strict gauge.

Terms used:

CH – Chain

TR – Treble Crochet

SP – Space

SL ST – Slip Stitch

ST – Stitch

DC – Double Crochet

Heart Granny

This triangle is worked in exactly the same way as the traditional granny, but with some colour changes at specific points. This is best worked in just 2 colours.

Round 4: 2TR into same sp - change back to colour A when completing the 2nd TR, *(3TR, ch2, 3TR) into next CH2 sp, 3TR into next sp, 3TR into next sp*, repeat from * to *, (3TR, ch2, 3TR) into last ch2 sp - change back to colour B when completing the 3rd TR, 3TR into next space sl st into the first TR (not the ch3). CH3 and turn.

Round 5: 2TR into same sp, *3TR into next sp, (3TR, ch2, 3TR) into next CH2 sp, 3TR into next sp, 3TR into next space*, repeat from * to *, 3TR into next space, (3TR, ch2, 3TR) into ch2 sp, 3TR into last space, sl st into the first TR (not the ch3). Fasten off and weave in ends.

Making the string

If you wish to crochet the string to hang the bunting, start by making a long chain, then DC along the top of the first triangle. Continue to chain for the desired gap and then DC along the top of the next triangle. Repeat this for all your triangles. If you wish to make the chain thicker, once you have reached the desired length, go back and DC in all the ch and sts.
